At least two people have been killed after clashes broke out between the Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the city of Aleppo on Monday.

According to a medical source, two civilians were killed and 11 others wounded after SDF forces opened fire on Syrian security force positions near the Sheihan and Lairmoun roundabouts. The Syrian Civil Defence reported that two of its rescuers were injured after their vehicle was fired upon by the SDF, while two children also suffered injuries from SDF gunfire at the Sheihan roundabout.

Syria's state-run news agency SANA, citing the city's health directorate, attributed the deaths to SDF shelling of Aleppo neighborhoods. The Syrian Defense Ministry blamed the SDF for attacking two Aleppo neighborhoods. The ministry also reported that two security personnel, including a soldier, were injured in what it described as a "treacherous" SDF attack.

The SDF disputed the government's account, stating that the bombing had been carried out by groups affiliated with the Syrian government led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The SDF also accused Syrian government forces of opening fire on a Kurdish checkpoint. The government denied the SDF's accusation.

Dozens of families and local workers were seen fleeing the area amid the violence, according to SANA.

The cause of the clashes was not immediately clear. Both Syria's defense ministry and the SDF later ordered their soldiers to stop the hostilities on Monday.

The incident occurs as a deadline approaches for the integration of the SDF into Syria's state institutions. In March, President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a deal with the SDF to integrate the group into the country's state institutions by the end of this year.
