Fire breaks out at Aramco facility after Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia

A limited fire broke out Tuesday in an administrative building at Aramco, one of the world's largest oil facilities, located in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, after the facility was targeted in an attack, the Saudi Ministry of Energy said. The ministry reported no injuries at the Aramco compound.

The attack occurred as Iranian-backed Houthis and the Saudi coalition fighting them exchanged strikes Tuesday night. The Saudi coalition reported a series of alerts for incoming missiles heading toward the Eastern Province, a major oil-producing region, and the capital Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense said debris from two intercepted Houthi missiles fell on residential areas in Riyadh, injuring four people and damaging 15 homes. The interception of the missiles resulted in shrapnel falling across the capital's neighborhoods.

The Houthis announced they had targeted an Aramco facility in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and unmanned aircraft, and also targeted another Aramco installation in Yanbu with ballistic missiles and drones. Saudi civil aviation authorities reported that attacks on airports in Najran and Jizan resulted in three injuries and material damage.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy stated that the attacks caused fires that led to a temporary halt of some operations at affected facilities.
