Iran says U.S. response to negotiation proposal is insufficient

Iran's Supreme National Security Council head Mohsen Rezaei said Saturday that Tehran finds the latest U.S. response to a proposal aimed at ending the war and fully opening the Strait of Hormuz "insufficient," with several key issues remaining unresolved.

Rezaei stated that the United States has accepted some of Iran's seven conditions but left other matters unclear. "The Americans gave us an answer. In it they accepted some of our conditions, but on some issues there remain unclear points. Therefore we consider their answer insufficient," Rezaei said in an interview with Press TV.

Iran had presented the seven conditions to the United States approximately two weeks prior, according to Rezaei. He emphasized that Tehran made clear the Strait of Hormuz would not be opened to the United States and negotiations would not proceed unless those conditions were met.

Rezaei noted that Washington must clarify the disputed issues for subsequent stages of the diplomatic process to advance. He indicated that over the past two months, the United States has repeatedly transmitted proposals to Iran through intermediaries, identifying Pakistan, Qatar, and Iraq as channels used by Washington to resume diplomatic contacts.

The Iranian official stated that Tehran has conducted three rounds of negotiations with Washington, with Americans presenting new proposals in each round. He emphasized that Iranian diplomacy has changed and there will be no return to the previous state of affairs.

A senior Iranian official also warned that Tehran could attack regional data centers, cables, and artificial intelligence facilities if fighting resumes, according to reports of the latest developments in the Middle East.

Rezaei stressed that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened through threats or pressure, and Iran will not retreat from its position.
