Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a surprise visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, where he met with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to multiple sources.
Netanyahu traveled to Abu Dhabi by private aircraft and remained in the emirate throughout the day, Israeli media reported. A senior Israeli official confirmed the meeting to Reuters, though neither the Israeli Prime Minister's Office nor the UAE Foreign Ministry issued immediate public statements about the visit.
Multiple Israeli news outlets, including television networks Channel 12 and KAN, as well as newspapers Haaretz and Jerusalem Post, reported on the same-day visit and the bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
The visit occurred amid ongoing discussion of alleged advance warnings provided by the UAE president to Netanyahu regarding a large-scale Hamas attack. According to reporting by Haaretz earlier this month, the UAE president had warned Netanyahu of the planned assault ten days before the October 7, 2023 attacks.
