Carlos Alberto "El Indio" Solari, founding member and lead singer of Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, died Friday at age 77. He was found at his home in Parque Leloir, a locality north of Buenos Aires province, where he was with his family.

Solari had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease approximately ten years ago, a condition that had kept him away from performing in recent years. According to official sources, authorities from the Fiscal Unit 2 of Ituzaingó attended his residence to confirm the death. The police report indicated that "nothing indicates or signals" any cause other than the underlying illness.

Born January 17, 1949, in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Solari moved to La Plata as a child when his family relocated from Santa Fe. He became a central figure in the counterculture movement of the 1980s in that city. Along with guitarist Eduardo Federico Beilinson, known as Skay, Solari founded Los Redonditos in the mid-1970s, a band that became one of Argentina's most popular rock groups.

Beyond his work with Los Redonditos, Solari founded and performed with other musical projects, including Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado, which he established in 2004, and El Mister y los Marsupiales Extintos. His last concert took place in 2017 with Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado at Parque Olavarría, drawing approximately 400,000 attendees—exceeding organizers' projections and resulting in disorder that caused two deaths and several injuries.

Solari's concerts were known as "misas ricoteras"—massive gatherings that drew devoted audiences. His performances were characterized by an enigmatic presence and mystical aura that surrounded his public image throughout his career.

In February 2026, Solari's wife publicly denied rumors that he had suffered a stroke, expressing anger at the false reports circulating about his health.

Following news of his death, Skay Bellinson, the guitarist who co-founded Los Redonditos with Solari, cancelled a scheduled performance with his band Los Fakires at the Bioceres Arena in Rosario.
