President Donald Trump confirmed Friday that he will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping two additional times before the end of 2026, following Xi's three-day state visit to Washington.
Trump announced the planned meetings in a social media post after Xi departed the capital. "We will be meeting again in November, in China, and then at the G20 in December, in Miami, Florida. Much has been, and will be, accomplished," Trump wrote.
The November meeting will take place during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, which China is set to host. The December gathering will occur at the Group of 20 leaders summit scheduled for Miami.
During a tea at the White House on Friday, Xi had extended invitations for the two additional meetings. Trump responded affirmatively to the proposal. "President Xi and Madam Peng have just left D.C., heading for China. The meeting was one of Friendship, Strength, and Success, for both China and the U.S.A.," Trump wrote in his post.
Xi's visit marked his second state visit to the United States. His previous visit occurred in 2015 during the Obama administration.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Friday that the U.S. would announce agreements with China on trade in non-sensitive goods, with a potential announcement as soon as Monday. Greer characterized the current situation as a "managed trade" arrangement between the two nations.
The three-day summit in Washington emphasized personal diplomacy between the two leaders. Trump and Xi visited the National Archives together on Friday as part of the visit's concluding activities.
