Sanremo 2026 security plan reinforced with enhanced controls and airspace restrictions

Italian authorities have finalized a reinforced security plan for the 76th Sanremo Festival, with enhanced controls and special measures across multiple venues in the coastal city.

A meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security took place Thursday at the Imperia Prefectural office, chaired by Prefect Antonio Giaccari. The gathering brought together senior provincial police officials, fire department representatives, port authority personnel, the Aeronaval Unit of the Genoa Financial Police, Sanremo municipal police, ENAC officials, the 118 emergency service, and RAI executives involved in organizing the festival.

During the meeting, authorities analyzed all safety and security aspects related to the musical event and RAI's editorial project "Tra palco e città" (Between stage and city), which will involve multiple strategic areas throughout Sanremo. The project encompasses Piazza Colombo, Piazza Borea d'Olmo, the Casino, the Palafiori venue, and the port zone.

The security measures include enhanced police controls, a flight restriction zone over the festival area, designated parking areas, and shuttle services to manage transportation during the event week. A Costa Crociere cruise ship will remain anchored in the harbor throughout the festival week to accommodate guests and participants.

The coordination among law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and RAI organizers addressed traffic management, crowd control protocols, and emergency response procedures across the various venues hosting festival activities and related programming.
