For the first time in 76 editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, the event's participants will be received by Italy's President Sergio Mattarella, according to an announcement made Wednesday by festival director and host Carlo Conti.

Conti revealed the meeting will take place Friday, February 13, at the Quirinal Palace in Rome. He shared the news in a video posted on Instagram, stating that he, co-host Laura Pausini, and the competing artists in the festival will attend the reception.

"It is obviously an immense joy, a great honor, and a great emotion," Conti said in the video announcement. The inclusion of festival participants in an official presidential reception marks a significant protocol recognition for the event, which has been held annually since 1951.
