West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug has been given permission to undergo a medical with AC Milan as part of a proposed loan transfer to the Serie A side, according to reports Wednesday.
The two clubs are in advanced talks over an initial six-month loan agreement that would see the 32-year-old Germany international move to Italy until the end of the season. The deal could also include an option for Milan to make the move permanent.
Fullkrug has struggled for minutes and fitness since joining West Ham from Borussia Dortmund in August 2024. He has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, four of which have come since the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach in September. He has yet to register a goal contribution this season and has scored three goals in 28 games overall for the Hammers.
West Ham paid £19 million for Fullkrug, though one source cited the fee as £27.5 million. His first campaign at London Stadium was restricted by injury.
Milan entered the market for a striker after Santiago Gimenez required surgery for an ankle injury, which has kept him sidelined since the 1-1 draw with Atalanta on October 28.
West Ham are expected to target a replacement for Fullkrug in January. The club has registered an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers' forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, though West Ham are reluctant to meet Wolves's valuation. The Premier League club is seeking £40 million for Strand Larsen, who has scored once in the league this season. West Ham's budget is limited and officials feel the package is too expensive.
West Ham, currently 18th in the Premier League after six games without a win, are scouring the market for forwards. Nuno Espirito Santo wants a player with experience of English football. Callum Wilson is the only senior striker at the manager's disposal.
